Privacy policy

Last updated: [date of publication]

This policy explains what personal data SI Consulting collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. It applies to siconsulting.ie and to enquiries you send us through it.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is [legal entity name], trading as SI Consulting, registered in Ireland under company number [company number], with its registered office at 10 Anne Street North, Dublin 7, D07 F6F9, Ireland.

For anything about your personal data, write to:
info@siconsulting.ie

We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer and have not appointed one. Enquiries go to the address above and are handled by the managing director.

2. What we collect and why

We only collect data you choose to give us. We do not buy contact lists, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Enquiries through the contact form

WhatWhyLegal basis
Name, email, organisation, country, type of organisation, what you need, and the message you write To answer your enquiry and, if it leads somewhere, to prepare a proposal Steps taken at your request before entering a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services (Art. 6(1)(f))

The message box is free text. Please don't put anything sensitive in it — health information, political or religious views, or details about other people's private circumstances. We don't need it and we'd rather not hold it.

Newsletter

WhatWhyLegal basis
Email address, and optionally name, country and type of organisation To send funding news, selected calls and articles about running projects Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given by ticking the box when you subscribe

Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and costs you nothing. You can also ask us to remove you by email.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, date and time, the page requested, and the browser's user-agent string. This is how web servers work and it is kept for security and troubleshooting, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use these logs to identify visitors and we do not combine them with anything else.

3. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't become work: 12 months from your last message, then deleted.
  • Enquiries that become a project: for the life of the engagement and then for as long as we are required to keep business records, which in Ireland is six years.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, plus a minimal record that you unsubscribed, so we don't add you again by mistake.
  • Server logs: [period used by the hosting provider].

4. Who else sees it

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We do use service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:

  • Website hosting: [provider and country]
  • Email: [provider and country]
  • Newsletter delivery: [provider and country]

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to our professional advisers where necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

5. Transfers outside the European Economic Area

SI Consulting has offices in Dublin, Barcelona and Mendoza. Where an enquiry is handled by colleagues at our office in Argentina, your data is accessed from outside the EEA.

Argentina is covered by a European Commission adequacy decision, which the Commission reviewed and upheld in January 2024. That means transfers to Argentina do not require any additional safeguard: the Commission considers the level of protection there essentially equivalent to the EU's.

If any of our service providers process data outside the EEA in a country without an adequacy decision, that transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of the clauses that apply.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Rectify it, if it is wrong or incomplete.
  • Erase it, where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
  • Restrict how we use it while a dispute about it is resolved.
  • Object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interest.
  • Portability: receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on. Withdrawing it does not affect anything we did with the data before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these, write to info@siconsulting.ie. We will respond within one month. If your request is complex we may extend that by two further months, and we will tell you within the first month if we do. Exercising these rights is free; we would only charge for a request that is manifestly unfounded or excessive, and we would explain why first.

7. Making a complaint

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first — most things are quicker to fix directly. You also have the right to complain to the Irish supervisory authority at any time:

Data Protection Commission
21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, Ireland
Telephone: +353 1 765 0100 or 1800 437 737
www.dataprotection.ie

The DPC asks that complaints be made in writing, preferably through the webform on its site.

If you live in another EU country, you can also complain to your own national supervisory authority.

8. Cookies

This website sets no cookies. We use no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking scripts, so there is nothing to consent to and no cookie banner.

If that changes — for example if we add analytics — we will ask for your consent before setting anything that is not strictly necessary, and we will update this policy and publish a cookie policy before doing so.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your contact details, we will tell you directly rather than rely on you noticing.
